Grantley Adams International Airport is located 16 km / 10 miles south-east of Bridgetown, Barbados' capital. Normally the journey from Bridgetown to the airport takes around 30 minutes by taxi and 45 minutes by local bus. Shuttles and taxis are the main means of accessing the city, while many luxury hotels and resorts provide free transports to and from the airport for their guests.
Shuttle Buses
An airport shuttle operates between BGI and downtown Bridgetown every day between 06:00 and 24:00, with the journey taking around 45 minutes. There is a designated bus stop located outside the Arrivals section of the terminal.
Hotel Shuttles
If you are staying at one of the better hotels and resorts on Barbados, you may be able to arrange a complimentary pick-up at the airport by contacting your accommodation provider in advance. Private hotel shuttles run to destinations in Bridgetown and throughout the island.
Taxi Cabs
Plenty of taxis await each arrival and are available 24 hours a day from the cab stand just outside Arrivals. Normally it takes just 30 minutes to reach downtown Bridgetown, while taxis are generally willing to take you to other destinations around the island. Fares are set by the government, so there are no meters in the taxis; check the fare with both the Airport Information Desk and the driver before jumping in your cab.
